John Niland

Based in Sydney, John Niland is a designer, artist and musician with an interest in communication culture. He works for the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales developing their website system. While he acknowledges the computer as a powerful tool in today's world of communication, his art is based on collage and pen and ink drawings.Niland's interest is in taking everyday advertising posters, cutting their constituent parts and reconstructing the message through a process of sampling. This process leads to novel combinations of 3D objects presented in a large format. Niland's inspiration stems from an early interest of the late Australian author D'arcy Niland's use of the 'short story.'

Andrew McDougall

Based in Melbourne, Andrew McDougall is an artist, writer, and web architect. He creates digital prints using a light-box, a digital camera and collections of minature objects. McDougall's art is a microcosmic view of the world that surrounds us. He is interested in transcending the duality we experience of a world made up of natural and artificial objects, by presenting them as one and the same. His work draws inspiration from the philosophy of alchemy whose premise is all that is outside is also within. McDougall is also influenced by the German artist Andreas Gursky's birds-eye views of daily life, in which his large scale prints record the smallest detail. Where Gursky's macrocosmic view of the world blurs the boundaries between landscape and man, McDougall's images on a microcosmic level blur the boundary between the artificial and the natural world around us.
